[Temeraire is looking much more put together than he was the last time he was on the network. He's also gotten better at working the 'Gear.]

Excuse me, everyone, I have a question for the people who have been here longer.

[He turns the camera around behind him to show a Druddigon and a shiny golden Charmander. The Charmander looks to be pestering the Druddigon despite being a fraction of her size, with the Druddigon carefully batting it away every so often. Then the camera is back on Temeraire, who lowers his voice and looks a little worried.]

Neither of them have gotten any bigger. Shimmer has only just hatched, so it makes sense that she is still small, but Reliant is at least a few weeks old and has not grown at all. Is that normal for Pokemon?

[He thinks a moment before adding, more to himself although it's still clearly audible] There have not been any cows or sheep for them to eat, perhaps that is what's wrong.

[Then he's back to addressing the camera at a normal speaking volume, and smiling a little for good measure.] I would very much appreciate any help.

[The feed lasts a little bit longer while he looks for the off button, but apparently he finds it because it shuts off.]

Some pokemon grow to be larger than others! Your Charmander looks to be about the proper size. It will get a little bit larger when it evolves into Charmeleon - that's a fairly early evolution, too - and much larger when it evolves again, but for now you shouldn't expect anything until the evolution.

And I don't think pokebeasts eat cows or sheep!

They'll both grow bigger when they evolve. Then again, it is possible that your not-Charmander only has a single stage, if you've had it for a few weeks without changes.

Perhaps your dragon grows more slowly than usual. Either that or it'll remain the same size for a while. It doesn't look like there's an evolution for that kind. [She eyes the shiny Charmander.] The other one is still a baby so it'll grow in time. I imagine it must have some kind of evolutions in the future.

[An eyebrow was raised when she heard that comment about cows and sheep.] What have you been feeding your pokemon instead of...that.

[He looks relieved to hear this, even if it's still strange.]

I see, I am glad that there isn't anything the matter.

...are you quite sure they don't eat cows?

Well, Pokémon can eat each other, but I wouldn't recommend talking about it. The people here get pretty sensitive about even feeding them eggs. Plus, I doubt a Charmander would go for something like a Mareep or Miltank.

But they do sell raw meat at the stores.

[He shrugs.]

I'm certain! I can send you a text file of the diets I have my pokemon on, if that's any help?

Why would you think they would eat cows, though?

Oh.

[He looks like he's trying to puzzle this out; he had read about evolution and stages in the book he'd found when he arrived, but it doesn't make much sense at all.]

You mean Reliant? She is a Druddigon, that is what the Pokegear said. [He glances back at her again before returning his attention to Cecil.] It is very odd that she wouldn't grow at all, but if that is the way of things here I suppose it isn't bad.

[He does sound a little disappointed though. But then he gives Cecil a closer look.] Oh! I have talked to you before, but I did not introduce myself then. I am Temeraire.

[He recognizes Misaki! He's glad to see her again; any familiar faces are good ones, even if they've only talked once (that he remembers).]

I suppose that must be it...it would be very strange for any creature not to grow at all.

They have been finding their own food. [Said very matter-of-factly.] But they have been eating only berries, as far as I can tell.

[He tilts his head, looking confused.]

Well, I can see why people would be upset about eggs, but why other Pokemon? Is it because those are all property, and not to be stolen?

[He can't think of any other reason why not, if that's what his Pokemon should be eating. This Dragon Logic is clearly sound.]

I suppose Miltanks are like cows, and a whole cow would be too large for Shimmer, even if it would not bother people for her to hunt one. I shall try getting them some meat at the stores, thank you very much for telling me.

Are you in any towns right now? Maybe you could buy some meat for them to eat?

[He nods in satisfaction with the offer. What a nice stranger!]

They look very much like dragons, and I eat cows, so it stands to reason that they would too. But I suppose it really is different here.

Dragons? [ It doesn't take much more than a second to make sense of that, although she'll check. ] You mean you're a dragon who eats cows, in your world?

[ The troll girl has little problem believing that's possible or true, but it doesn't harm anything to ask. And she'll be texting over that file now, which is a pretty standard dietary plan she obsessively tracks. She had a Charmander of her own previously - it evolved - so that particular plan should be helpful. ]

Yes, berries, it is one of the strangest things I have seen here. [He shakes his head; clearly draconic animals eating berries instead of the wild animals they've fought, what next?]

I am in Cherrygrove, so I suppose I will try that. [He smiles.] Thank you, Misaki.

[And then he remembers something important.] Oh! Do you remember how you said you had met a dragon like me before?

[She raises an eyebrow.] Um, yes. What about it?

Someone else told me that they'd seen me on a strange weekend, and mentioned me by name. He said that I wouldn't remember it, because of the way this place works.

It still doesn't make any sense at all, but I think you must have met me then, even if I can't remember.

Your druddigon won't get any bigger; that species is one of several that don't have larger forms. The charmander will, but pokemon grow all at once in a single moment called "evolving" instead of gradually.

Nope, they look pretty good for a Charmander and...whatever the other one is! No Pokémon eats anything but berries and Pokéfood, so it's not that.

[A pause]

Though they might get fat. That happens.

Possibly. Or it could just be the fact that they hatch into baby Pokémon, and people seem to forget that Pokémon are animals.

But they don't just eat berries and kibble. Personally, I think a meat diet's a lot healthier for them, anyway.

[He shrugs.]

Might be more expensive than letting them hunt, but it gets the job done.

Yes, that's right. [Pause.] Although I did more than just eat cows.

Is your world one of those where there aren't any dragons?

[He doesn't like the idea of those kinds of worlds at all, but there seem to be an awful lot of them so he should make sure. He looks happy when he gets the text file, and he'll have to work out how to open it at some later point, but he's very grateful to have gotten it.]

One of my friends had a dragon for her lusus, but I never met one personally? I am from a world where I was not human, though.

[ Non-humans represent, basically. And she doesn't seem too worried about the "more than just cows" comment, probably because violence is pretty integral to Alternian culture. ]

I see...what a strange way to go about things.

[He considers this information.] How do you know about Reliant? Do you have one like her yourself?

I'm glad there isn't something wrong with them.

[Or that he's done something wrong with looking out for them himself.]

With all the walking and fighting they are having to do, I should not think they will get fat, though.

You'd be surprised. My mons play all the time, but they still get a little tubby!

[Ok, that surprised her even more. More at the fact someone actually remembers that strange weekend. She shrugs with a smile of her face though.]

At least I knew I wasn't going crazy.

I do, actually. I've also raised a charmander, so I'm familiar with both types, really.
