[The feed first opens on the bright red face of a Druddigon, the top of her head already lightly coated in snow. She makes a satisfied sound that she's managed to get the 'Gear turned on, before handing it to the young man leaning heavily against her side, looking unbalanced as though he'd fall over in a moment if she weren't keeping him upright.]

[He's wearing a bottle green coat that looks like a military uniform out of entirely the wrong century, including a cravat that's been pulled loose. He gingerly takes the 'Gear from the Druddigon with the tips of his fingers, his hands curled like claws, and looks down at it curiously. He clearly doesn't realize he's talking to anyone other than the Pokemon next to him.]

I do not understand why you keep handing me this strange box. It does not do anything but light up and show words which make no sense at all.

[There's something oddly clumsy about his speech, as though he's having trouble speaking around his own mouth. He taps at the screen with one finger.]

Which is very interesting, and I should like to keep it after I get back, but it is not telling me anything useful. And neither are you, whatever language you're speaking. [He casts a somewhat sullen look at the Druddigon, who only sighs and shrugs.]

Druuu.

But it isn't! It says welcome to the world of Pokemon, but not what a Pokemon is. Or where Laurence is, or how I have been changed into a human. I am quite sure I haven't swallowed any odd pearls, I would remember.

[He's starting to look considerably more anxious now, but after a moment swallows and squares his shoulders determinedly. He can't waste time on panic now!]

I don't suppose this is something Napoleon might have done…but I must find Laurence. You may help me if you like, and then we will find your captain too if you have one.

[Temeraire clearly feels that he can't be standing here and waiting to begin his search any longer, because he pushes off the Druddigon to stand on his own, takes a single, determined step forward…and immediately overbalances and faceplants in the snow, the feed going completely white and then cutting out.]

[It took a while for Misaki to come up how to exactly explain just how it works. Most likely the guy doesn't have a clue what some of the modern technology is so it wasn't exactly easy figuring out how to explain to the guy.]

Um...its a complex thing to explain, to be honest. I'm not so sure if I exactly know either.

[Temeraire waits patiently for her answer, although when she says she doesn't know he looks a little disappointed.]

Oh. Well I suppose it must be very complicated. Perhaps if I find someone else they will be able to explain.

[He glances around again, the novelty of the talking instant letter box fading a little as he remembers his predicament.]

Although I am not at all sure where I am.

I'm assuming you're in New Bark Town. That tends to where new people start in when they first come here.

I don't know if anyone there could answer your question but there should be people in the next town who would know. It takes at least three days to get there though, possibly longer with all the snow.

New Bark Town...is that in England?

[Please say yes please say yes. Although when he hears about the travel, he sighs.]

And I suppose I will have to walk...she is much too small to fly me there, and I cannot fly myself anymore.

[Misaki raises an eyebrow.]

[His face falls a little at her answer. He hadn't actually thought he could still be in England, not really, but that was a confirmation he'd really rather not have had. He nods after a pause, distracted.]

Yes, I was a dragon before I woke up here, a Chinese Celestial.

[Because clearly dragon breeds will mean something to this girl.]

[While Misaki doesn't really know shit about dragon breeds or even how dragons work in Temeraire's world, those two words sound very familiar for some reason. It'll probably take her a while with the sucky memory and everything.]

Chinese Celestial? I think I've heard that phrase before from someone.

[Ok, this was getting weird. Either this was feeling like deja vu or Misaki's memory just really sucks at the moment.]

[He sounds unsure. He's pretty sure he doesn't recognize this girl at all, but nobody's ever asked him that kind of question. People usually remember meeting a giant black dragon very clearly.]

Unless you looked different before too.

[Luckily that was the one of the only few things she remembered seeing.] I think I remember meeting a big dragon in the middle of the night one weekend and he mentioned being a Chinese Celestial?

[She looks away in shame.] From what I've been told, my face wasn't in the best condition during that weekend.

Oh! I do not think that could have been me, I haven't ever been outside of England since I was hatched, but what did he look like?

[He looks a little concerned when she looks away, and adds to try to be helpful] But there is nothing wrong with your face at all, now.

Um...he was black and big. [That's really specific there.] He seemed to be way more gentle and polite than I've expected from a dragon.

[Misaki blushes. It was a relief to her.] Um, thanks... that was what I wanted to hear..
